Meet Our Youth Director, Stephen Stanford
The Youth Director and ministry exists to connect Christian youth with other Believers, as well as reach non-believing youth, to help them come to faith, grow in their faith, and to challenge them to discover their ministry as they honor God with their life.
The goal of my ministry is to glorify God through the power of the Spirit, growing disciples. The methodology of our ministry will be prayer, fellowship and bible study.
Prayer: We will begin our ministry by prayerfully pleading for an opportunity to spread the gospel and for God to bless our ministry. Also we hope to pray for our youth that they may have the desire to grow in faith. We also will pray that they will be able to withstand temptation.
Fellowship: Building relationships with youth will also take a little of good ol’ fashion fun. What we hope to accomplish is the building of relationships that will give birth to opportunities to share the gospel. We will incorporate fellowship meetings on Sunday and other weekend nights. We will have pizza nights and movie nights. We will always be looking for new ideas as to how we have can have fun as a Christian group. We hope to encourage friends and friends of friends to come to the youth group. This will allow us to bring in more students in which we hope to share the gospel. Also we hope to keep in touch each week with the youth so that we can encourage discipleship.
Discipleship: By presenting the truth of God to the Youth, we believe that the word of God has the ability to save, change lives and give meaning to the live of our youth. We hope to teach the bible faithfully every Sunday morning. We hope to build up the faith by teaching truth. Also, we hope to pray continually for our youth that they may grow in faith.
It is my desire to develop a youth group that will build and train the youth to be a witness in their schools and for the rest of their lives. We want to meet the ministry needs of our youth. We want to be there for them when they need us most. We hope to include in the youth ministry the biblical role of the family but also for youth with non-believing parents. Central to any successful youth ministry is the incorporation of Parmer Lane Baptist Church members; married families; single families and others, to serve as Christian parents/mentors.
