Meet Our Worship Minister
Sunday, April 6, 2008, Parmer Lane Baptist Church called Dick Jackson to serve as our new Worship Minister. He and his wife, Karen have been serving here as interim since November.
Dick and Karen moved to Austin in August, 2007 from the Houston area. Both are employed by Manor ISD. Karen is the Director of Special Education for the district and Dick teaches Special Education Science at Manor High School.
Dick and Karen were both raised as “preacher’s kids” (PKs) . Their fathers pastored churches in Texas for over 60 years. Karen started playing the piano in her father’s church in the 8th grade. She is an accomplished accompanist and has a true heart for ministry both in her music and her everyday life.
Dick began leading music while in the 10th grade in his father’s church. In 1996 Dick left full time music ministry to begin a life of ministry in Southern Gospel music. He traveled throughout the nation with The Big Country Boys quartet which was noted as one of the top 10 southern gospel quartets in the country. Dick and Karen now have their own southern gospel ministry and sing together as Kindred Hearts.
Our goal is to reach people through music both in our church ministry and our ministry as Kindred Hearts. We look forward to our time of service at Parmer Lane.
