Meet Our Pastor
In March of 2000 Dr. Bob Stanford became Pastor of Parmer Lane. Bob and his wife Sue have been married since 1972 and have two sons, Aaron and Stephen, one daughter-in-love, Kym, one cat named Elliott and Buddy, the family mutt.
Bob has served as a pastor since 1980 and previous to that served in various church-staff positions in the areas of music and worship, youth ministry, education and discipleship. His real joy in ministry is to “teach the full counsel of God.” This calling is so strong that he once made a deal with his two sons. He promised them that he would attend their ballgames if they would attend his sermons. It worked so well that he ended up coaching many of their team sports!
In addition to teaching the Bible, other ministry enjoyments include putting together meaningful and creative worship experiences, utilizing different forms of music in worship and just spending time with the folks God has called him to shepherd.
“My greatest joy is to teach the Bible so that people can come to know and experience the God who loves us and desires for us to know Him. I am most fulfilled in ministry when people fall in love with Jesus because their minds have been renewed by the power of God’s Word. My greatest desire is to be used by God to grow a great church; a fellowship where God is honored through the love and devotion of His people.”
Pastor Bob is a life-long student of the Christian life. In addition to his earned Doctorate from Golden Gate Seminary Mill Valley, California, he has earned the Masters of Theology, Masters of Divinity and Masters of Music from Southwestern Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas and a Bachelors degree from the home of the Fighting Lumberjacks, Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas. Additionally, Bob has completed additional graduate study at Dallas Seminary, Dallas, Texas.
